Think about it this way...

...no one could ever possibly accuse an MG42 being fake but they might be suspicious of the SS helmet! So the MG is cooler all day long...

Quite right Jack. I collect weapons. If you want a safe choice, it'll be guns. They are too dear to reproduce. Not something you want to show the mother though (or the wife in cases! )

In this case only, I would pick the MG over the helmet. All you need is one MG to set up a real good collecting mood. Then you can stack all of your stuff around it. Maybe an old WWII German type writer, and...a fog machine.

By far, the MG42 is cool! However, having said that, the helmet is great too!

I would rather the MG42 live fire, I think for me the amusement factor would wear off in about 5mins with a dummy gun. Your display setup looks very nice though, as does the helmet.

I think that the helmet would be cooler. That MG, while definatly a cool thing to have, takes up a lot of floor space.
