    If it shows a different date, it simply means the barrel was changed out as was the normal practice when the throat erosion (TE) was greater than 6. You can get a throat erosion guage from good gunsmiths like Brownell. It usually took 7000 rounds to wear out the barrel to the point it was not accurate except for very close.

    My barrel is marked 51. That is ok though, because this weapon is for my shooting pleasure. By far the the M1 Garand is my favorite rifle. Wish I had a few more. Also, thanks for looking that information up for me.

      Yes, thoses are 88's. One is a flak round and the other is a Tiger round. I know when you get your new safe Ty that you will probably have lots of fun putting it together. My only advice is get the biggest one that you can get. I would have gotten the bigger one, but that was all that I had in my budget. I will just have to buy another safe to add on.
