Hey guys I was wondering if some of you could help me out on some Spanish Civil War Victory medals. I got some recently and was hoping to get some opinions on them. I started a thread but no one has chimed in yet.

    thanks,

    Tyler

Thanks for sharing, Meister. Great collection indeed! I can see the "anticomunista", a medal I have always liked but never dared to buy, because of so many post-war repros made in Spain by the volunteers themselves that may pass unnoticed. Congratulations, Meister.

Sadily the italian insignia has been gone but quite interesting to see the Falange one....due it was use in some cases, in the war period to show, as brotherhood sign, two emblemas on the helmets.

A new addition to my small SCW collection.....incredibly found in a flea market! Frame is from seventies!!! At first seemed to me something related to roumanian language but after a short research on the web I found that it is Esperanto!!!
It was published in 1937 by the Republican government of Catalonia as part of a program to recruit foreign volunteers in defense of the Spanish Republic. Many traveled to Spain to report on the war and even fight for the Republicans. Participants included famous names like George Orwell and Ernest Hemingway. Naturally, Esperantists participated as well. The Catalonian government even published a weekly bulletin in Esperanto during the war.

The text reads: “What are you doing to stop this? Esperantists from around the world, take determined action against international fascism!”
