    Your collection

    John,

I'm highly impressed by the "high-end" items in your amazing collection !

Tastefully displayed and with a Museum-touch concerning the atmosphere....

    Simply GREAT ! Congratulations !

Unfortunately I start to have not enough room for my collection, you seem to have a lot of room though, still looks very well arranged, I'm slowly reaching chaos.....

I especially like your researched US Airborne objects, the German on sentry duty with heavy winter clothing and the Waffen-SS man.

Looking forward to see the finished head and face of Dick Winters !

Good Luck with future collecting !

Thank you for the additional positive comments guys!!!

Mark you and I have the same appreciation for the DAK, you have just done a far more fantastic job of collecting it than me. I'll take some pictures as soon as I can.

Bryant I went to Toccoa Georgia two years ago and loved it there, such friendly people. The food was great too.

Ustasha glad you were able to make it. I hope to see you at many future gatherings.

Ferdinand, thanks. I have a lot more items in the closet and in the attic, I just don't want to put it all out on display.

Absolutely beautiful collection you've put together in just a few years.
The variety is astounding and all in great condition.
While you're snapping pics of the DAK stuff I'd love to see a close-up of the Standard bearer's gorget. The few pics I've seen of this item have not been the best quality.

        Congrats.

        Scott

Besides the items I've shown here, I am also a photo collector. I have thousands of quality photos and slides (some of which I have enlarged and placed on the walls in the room, as you can see) and about 40 photo albums. Unfortunately there is no easy way to show these items.

However in the middle of the room is one unique display that I put together as a result of one of my visits to Germany. The contents of the table are all pieces from Hitler's Berghof that I gathered from the former site of that building.

Most pieces are pretty boring masonry, but the one item I like is the piece of camoflaged chicken wire. I ripped this piece off what used to be the rear foundation of the Berghof. At one time towards the end of the war, I believe the entire Berghof was covered with this stuff. (I have a terrible picture of a portion of the Berghof covered with this in a book somewhere).

Your request is easy Scott since I already have photos on file.

I'm told that the box for the gorget is actually even rarer than the gorget itself.

ive seen a political boxed gorget at the imperial war museum - going by the the one they own, it looks like these boxes were wrapped in german text stickers which stated something along the lines of "jews are not allowed to open"

OK Mark, here are a few close-up shots of the DAK headgear as you requested. These are only 3 of the 7 pieces I have, but I'll post pictures of the other 4 pieces in a couple of days.
