My Collection Display for our monthly Collector Gathering

For the past 14 months I have been organizing monthly Collector Gatherings for a select group of militaria collectors in my area. Each month we meet at a different collectors home to view their collection, socialize, eat, and just have a good time. We now have about 30 collectors on our invite list and average 10 to 20 members at each gathering.

This month it was my turn to host our gathering, so last Saturday I took some pictures of my displays before everyone arrived. After 7 years of collecting, I thought it was about time I posted some pictures of my collection.

    I hope you enjoy!

I moved the allied portion of the collection into the livingroom just for the day so there would be more room for socializing in my Collection Room.

All of my 101st Airborne uniforms are named and researched. Several came from the veteran or the veteran's family directly.

The one on the right above belonged to Sgt. Dan Olney of the 501st PIR.

The one on the left belonged to Cpl. Willard Mitchell of the 506th PIR.

Please excuse the "monster" face of this mannequin, but he is a work in progress. The shirt and brass belonged to Major Richard "Dick" Winters of 2nd Battalion 506th PIR (Band of Brothers). When the mannequin is complete it should be a pretty good likeness of him from a photo I have.

These two uniforms belonged to my friend Major Paul Hanna of 101st Airborne Division HQ. Paul was the Special Services Officer for the division. Besides his normal duties, he was also assigned as the escort to General Eisenhower and Winston Churchill on their visits to the 101st in England.

                      Luftwaffe, Kriegsmarine, and ainti-tank weapons.

I just built the bookshelf last week to help get things off the floor.

Tremendous collection that is expertly displayed. I'd love to be a member in your club. Congrats! (I have a similar thing going on here in New Zealand - great fun).

Oh, and please let us have a closer look at the "smaller stuff" in your grand cabinet.

Thanks again for sharing your collection with us.
