Here is a view of the fuse. I will have to take more pics of the grenade when I get a chance.

I don't collect weapons but another hobby is metal-detecting. Believe it or not, these pistols and the ammunition came out of a sealed ceramic vase which I found whilst checking over the site of a short battle in the Teutoburg Forest (April 1945). How they ended up there I'll never know but it was both a shock and a great surprise when I opened it after getting that huge signal. The vase (or whatever it is) was at a depth of only 10cm. After opening it and pouring out the oil emulsion I found this lot still wrapped in oiled cloth. Both weapons were loaded and had been made ready:

Both pistols are fully functional. As I said, I'll never know how they got there or indeed when they were buried but I do know that the armoury in the local camp (Sennelager) had weapons of this type. It is very possible therefore that they were issued to the troops who were deployed in the area in Feb 1945 as the US 2nd Armd Div were rapidly advancing on the area. Someone may have found them laying around after hostilities ended and buried them until the heat was off. I suppose they may even have belonged to criminals who buried them to dispose of evidence. Who knows but it was definitely one of my better detecting days

These are probably the easiest finds to make though (and the most unwelcome):

                  These too although less dangerous:

(This lot turned up over a period of just ten minutes as I was checking a series of US trenches)

Don't worry though, everything gets buried until I have enough to make it worth a visit from the bomb disposal people. The grenade, bullets and Panzerfaust shown here have long since been destroyed. The pistols are stored with a friend who has a gun licence until I decide what I'm going to do with them. Anyone want to buy them?

here we have two different barrel cases, the one on the right is for a 42 barrel only, whilst the left one can take either a 34 or 42 barrel, lauf schutzer 43/1
