        John-
You have an extremely impressive collection of firearms and ordnance, especially that MP-43

Are these all deacts, or can some of them still fire?

none fire, all have been deactivated, I would like to go to a range sometime and hire an MP40 but thats when I go to Vegas !

All of the relics came from Normandy and mostly from shops and all nearly 20 years ago, I have three 42's in all, I will start a thread soon on the differences I have noticed between the three, so I believe there were 3 models produced.

I have visited the area alot and would recomend it to anybody, I found a few little things on the surface by field walking. Though we had permission from the farmers to do this.

jens, I like the way you have displayed your items, looks like you have a nice collection there aswell, is that a late war dated K98 bayonet underneath the other one?

I would like to get a nice egg grenade and also a late war stick grenade ! and a tan cleaning kit

          John

other side, the straps look almost like there would be some stretch in them, but you cant stretch them by hand. I have never seen any other equipment with similar straps

I have added this link from the firearms forum because I thought it was such an excellent and unusual example of a rare type MP40

                        Thanks Jeff !

Nice 1911, I would like to own one at some point, belonged to your Grandpa, did he spark the interest in collecting?

the P38 looks good and the helmet too, any history behind them? I got my Luger from my Uncle who was in the US Navy, I never got chance to ask him about it before he passed away, he was also at Pearl Harbour at the time of the attack on one of the battleships, I remember him saying when I was a kid about how he was in the water covered in oil.

                              Thanks for sharing you pictures

                              John

also a picture from my collection of a double barrel case in use, just noticed the Y-straps, the variety without the d-rings for the A-frame etc

Those straps were made in 1944 out or recycled "Gasplanen". 10 Years ago you could many of those in the ardennes, but today they are quite rare.
