          NCO Bandsman

Here is a project I've been meaning to complete for a while now. I finally had some time today, and here is the finished product.

A bandsman Feldwebel with the 19. Infanterie Regiment and his klarinette.

Beautiful mannequin display. I generally prefer the egg head mannequins but this one is quite tasteful and realistic. Beautiful waffenrock of course. Is that your old high school clarinet?

Just found this thread, and what a great collection. I love how you have them displayed. Did you make those display cabinets in the beginning of the thread? They look fantastic.

Thanks for the replies gents and to answer Tom's question....no. It's not my high school clarinet. However, since I'm a stickler for detail, here is a bit of trivia for you.<O</O
                      <O</O
The Bb clarinet in my display is an original 1930's vintage made by V. Kohlert Sons in Graslitz, Germany. In addition, you'll notice the clarinet has no ligature on the mouth piece. The ligature holds the reed in place which allows the clarinet's sound. <O</O

According to the book, "The Military Music & Bandsmen of Adolf Hitler's Third Reich 1933 - 1945" written by Brian Matthews (a fantastic in depth book), the german clarinet emitted a different sound to those of other armies because they used French made reeds that were hand cut from cane, and the reed was tied into position on the clarinet with string, not the ligature. <O</O
                      <O</O

                                Gene,

Yes, my uniforms were in display cases at one point but when my daughter went to college a couple of years ago, here bedroom became my man cave.
