HI Greg,

I got it from a collector who was selling his collection due to family circumstances, and I found it by chance in a box of paperwork, he related that it was a US vet piece bringback that he obtained personally from the family but did not have the info on the vet on hand. My friend who I brought along bought a good amount of the collection as I was looking for medals and badges and I liked the DAK piece. If you notice on the sides on the interior there are faded swastikas. From the text it appears the German was in the KM.

Uniforms look great Mark, look out for those mannequins, one leads to two and before you know it you will have a room full

Currently in Paso Robles ,California hunting through Antique shops on my way to NY
Will catch up in two weeks, hopefully with a bag full of WW2 American DAK Vet bring backs

Love that photo Chris, never seen so many tunics all at once with SV patchs applied ! Really neat to see the variations of tunic colours with there fading/bleaching all in one pic as well.

Thought it appropriate to add a pic of a couple of new additions

That is indeed a superb group photo, fabulous study of uniforms to, you can see the first model tropical tunic in varius types of insignias configuration..as well as fading. Also of great interest is the late tropical tunic that is been worn by one of the soldiers in the middle. ..I can not be sure but I think the soldier next to him could be wearing a M-42 tropical tunic..I am looking this in a small phone screen right now. The caps are the "icing on the cake" in this magnificent photo.

Good spotting on the 3rd pattern tropical tunic and shows they were been worn at the same time as 1st pattern tunics be it at a later date. Also goes someway in help date this photo and likely at a time when the desert war was not going so well for these guys. Also of note it appears all soutachs have been removed as instructed.

Dak/ tropical Wasser can

Lately I have been picking up and seeking tropical equipment. Very recently aquired this 42 dated Wasser can which has a lovely pinkish tone.

If anybody else has one to post either water of petrol please post pics as I think it would interesting to see and compare the variations of these.

The war in Afrika was over when this photo was taken. This photo is from Greece Oct '43. Still a very nice photo showing the fading of the caps and tunics. Looks to be a 2nd pattern tunic next to the 3rd pattern or maybe its another 3rd pattern ? More interesting to me at least is the Pz trooper wearing the SV patch on his arm during panzerfaust/schreck training....never seen that before

Really nice jerrycan Greg, the color is really African. These are underated imo. Just like the tropenhelm, both are definitive to the DAK

Nice photo Paul, looking at the piping on his boards they look white for Infantry but could also be signals.

Thanks Tim , I agree with you whole heartedly that these cans like the tropenhelms and many other items are underappreciated. I'm glad they are however as they still affordable and are a good starting point for attracting new collectors into the wonderfull world of Dak/tropical collecting...unfortunately it can go up very steeply from there on in -
