In darker light the waffenfarb looks more recon, almost with a coppery brown look to them. In natural like they look more like the earlier Pz waffenfarb/soutache you encounter on early Pz caps.
In some shots they look like very faded artillery and in some panzer. A bit tough because of the different light. Any shots of the underside? I will defer to you since you do have them in hand.
Lovely set of straps and nicely worn.
The underside is very close to the top, if any thing with a brownier tinge . When comparing them to Recon boards in the Schiffer book they kind of look similar. I will try and get some pics in natural light tommorow. There's definately nothing bright red on the underside but ofcoarse the bleaching prosess could of contributed to that.
Regardless they exhibit so much character, I can imagine them matched to an m40 soutached cap with the same bleached appearance and the tunic to match Dreams are free I guess and certainly cheaper
Nice job on the cap Mark.
I'm sure that some collectors would be tempted to repair this one but I'll keep it just as I found it, 100% original and untouched.
Lovely cap Dave with just the right amount of ware. This would be a nice match to my 41 dated 'Peek & Cloppenburg' Artillery officer 1st pattern tunic.
