Great haul Matt! Those DAK driver's documents are extremely hard to find. Sonderverband patches are in my opinion the coolest DAK insignia there is. Nice.....

Ok everyone, I was really torn about whether or not I should post all of these shields on here or not but have decided to say the hell with it and just post some of what I have for everyones benefits. Please not that this is not an all enclusive set of pics or info as im still learning as many of us are. I am still awaiting a luft bird to arrive as well. This is a series of pics of MM shields and unmarked ones that I have and feel are originals. Im always looking for more. Hope it helps you guys/gals identify the maker of your shields on your helmets. Matt

First set here: The eagle is Marked S&S, rare ones to find. The S&S is marked between the left wing and the head. Not sure if its viewable with this pic or not. Shield is unmarked.

MM is on the back here between the head and left wing. Looks like S&S

This flock are R.K birds. They have a very distinct look with a very flat topped head. These shields are very heavy shields when compared to the typical aluminum ones. The backs of the tricolor shields are unmarked and have a distinct series of circles directly in the center of the shield. The R.K. is marked on the bottom of the bird shield. Can be stamped on either side as noted on these shields.

Now this third set is very odd. I had the eagle for almost a year and then the matchin tricolor shield appeared on the estand. This to me tells me that it wasn't just a 1 time made shield. The bird and national colored shield are made the same way and are from two different parts of the world. It would be a snowballs chance in hell that they were always together. I feel that these were a set of local made shields, where is anyones guess but believe them to be legit. Very heavy set as well.

These backs are very unique. Have not yet ran into another set but would love too!

Next up are some Assman marked bird. Now these in my experience are always marked between the head and left wing. Its the capital A style but does appear in varying sizes. One of these has a background that seems to be laquered at some point. I did snag an assman marked tricolor off of ebay. The aluminum eagle also came with a national tricolor that is in the same condition. Don't know if its an assman but good chance I would think.

Also, note the very unique chest feathers on these examples. Dead give away of an Assman bird

This tricolor came with the aluminum marked assman. Believe it to be an unmarked assman.
