    The tan NCO tunic is quite unusual in the fact that it is actually id'd and worn by an Afrikakorps vet. Very few Afrikakorps items are ever id'd so I'm quite pleased with this one.

        Hi Tim,
        The NCO tunic has my panzer Oberfeldwebel straps sitting on it for display at the moment as it didn't have the straps when I bought it. I have just recently been lucky enough to acquire an early set of tropical shoulderstraps for the correct rank and branch of the soldier who wore it. He was a PzGrenadier Feldwebel. I'm waiting for those to arrive at the moment and once they have I'll take some more photos of the complete tunic on display.
        No need to show the underside of the collar for the Rifle Regiment Ltn, the insignia is just sitting on it as the tunic had been stripped. It is however an olive tunic which has faded considerably through use and sunshine so no doubt about it having been an Afrika used tunic. I mistook it for a faded tan tunic when I received pictures from the seller but was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it was a well faded olive tunic. It's rare to find such faded examples like this.
        When I get the chance to do a little bit of photography I'll add some decent pics for you to see.

          Very nice items showed here. Mark fantastic display with those tropicals. I like the fading which is clearly seen.

          Today my first lw tropical tunic with original eagle arrived. I got it from a fellow forum member.

          On the 17th of september 1944 a lw penalty bataillon fought in my hometown. They came from italy and still wore their tropical uniforms. I have also soldbuch from a NCO from this unit.

          I hope you like it as much i do.

                      Hello Andy,
                      I have just spent the past two days on a frantic search for the information on the soldier who owned the tunic. I was afraid that I may have lost the details from a computer problem a few months ago but, thankfully I had my emails backed up on disc.
                      His name was Feldwebel Otto Ammon and he lived in Selb Bavaria, which is where he returned to after the war ended. He was a member of the Afrikakorps, with the only description of his unit being an Infanterieregiment. I guessed that he was more than likely a PzGren but I hope to find out more by doing some research on him.

                          New Pith Helmet

                          I have not had time to visit lately but thought I would drop by...anyway, here is a photo of my new Early Heer Tropen Helm. It is the canvas type (not the felt type I see so much of) with brass insignia. It was too solid to pass up.....

                            Hello Upfront

                            Thats a nice lookin' pith. Notice how low the shields have been placed. Can you post a pic peaking under the 1" strip hiding the cotter pins and upper and lower junction showing the original color tone and sun fading. Does it still have date stamp ?

                            Have added another pic of early pith from '41 displaying sun fading. And its great to see this thread back to the top

                              Here's my contribution to the DAK thread.

                              This helmet is named and researched to a member of the headquarters company, 69th Pz. Gren. Regt., 10th Panzer Division.

                              Being a tropical camo captured in Tunisia is cool enough, but this units history gets even better. In 1941, 10th Panzer division was one of the groups closest in Moscow. I've got a book about the division that shows them passing the monuments on the old Borodino battlefield. Just too cool!
