Here is my new M34/38 Propaganda Officers overseas hat. This is in really nice shape and very rare. The leather sweat band has been removed but still visible. Also, it's a nice size, "59" or "60" big enough to fit my fat head.

    Enjoy. Steve

        Hi Jacques,

How are things in S.Africa? Is collecting good? I have received a bunch of new things that I have been to lazy (over worked) to take pictures of. I hope this weekend I will get it all to geather and have a nice showing.

        Take care. Steve

Airborne Steve, your collection is absolutely fantastic. You are also fortunate that your wife tolerates it! (I get crap from my wife about my collection about once a week, even though I informed her of my hobby on our second date!)

            Andy,

No doubt! My wife has given me huge grief about my collecting in the past. Like you, she new about my passion from our first date. Lately she has come to grips with my collecting mostly due to the fact that her sister married a total looser who spends all of their money on beer and I think, on other women so my wife now thinks I’m saint. Additionally, my wife has taken up her own hobby of entering into poker tournaments where she has been scoring big bucks and that has taken her out of my hair for the time being!

                  Steve,
By the way, my wife is Asian too (Japanese). She doesn't understand the military fascination. I explained to her that after 11 years in uniform, it is difficult to get out of my system!

                      Thanks Paul,

I'm still working on those pictures. I have been soooooo deep into work it has been hard to break away. I'll continue to try.

                        Thanks John,

Really only started this thread to have a photo study of my collection for insurance reasons. I recently moved into a new house which I remodeled and have just started to pull my collection out of boxes and stuff. I hope to get my collection professionally photographed soon.

You're still in Russia? I hope all is well? Is collecting good over there?

                            Andy,

I hear you brother! Same here. You did 11 years and got out? I was committed when I hit 10 years. By then the retirement plan looked good.

Well, 6 years Marine Corps and 5 years Oregon National Guard. National Guard/Reserve retirement isn't quite as good of an incentive, and a big reason I got out was that my battalion was jerking me around about sending me to BNCOC, the required school for E-6, even though I had been an E-5 for over 5 years, was in an E-6 slot, and had been recommended for promotion. I think they took it for granted that I'd do 20, and when i told them promotion to E-6 was a what I wanted in order for me to reenlist, they didn't take it seriously. In the end, I don't regret getting out, as it enabled me to travel to Asia, where I met my wife.

                                Andy,

That sounds like the guard. You can be an E4 for 20 years without promotion. I wouldn't step foot into the guard. I'm working on my retirement right now. The worst that could happen to me is a promotion. That would mean that I would have to stay for another 3-4 years. Of course, I'll take the promotion anytime!

                                Take it easy. Steve
