    airborne_steve's collection ?

    Hi there all!

I'm sitting here, drinking fine wine and taking pictures. I know this may be a little dangerous, but you only live once! My wife is out of the country and I'm feeling lonely. Not really, this is my big chance to buy more German stuff before she gets back.

This thread is a work in progress that I will update when I receive new goods!

Also, I'm in the process of buying a new house with a large bonus room so I can display all my stuff in private. I intend on displaying my uniforms on full size mannequins.

However, until then here it is a peek at my collection. Enjoy.

P.S. If you'er into that parade stuff, then this is not for you. I'm into the down and dirty combat gear where real men are borne.

First, after collecting since 1980, with a break till 1997, this is what I have to show for it.

Ok, ok I know its not much but this is my tribute to the infantry. Pictured is my M36 rank structure mount. All but the early Uff, shoulder straps are the same size.

I hope I didn't waste my time and money on this? It only cost me 20K.

              Hello,

I would say it is safe to say that. I would also like to add that perhaps an EK_1 should be on top and an assault badge below. A great looking collection and I like how we have American items displayed with the German alike as several collections lack this.

                Hi Will,

The American displays are of my grand father and great grandfather. My Grandfather, Mel Lybarger, was a B25 pilot during WWII. He also flew in the Berlin Airlift and was in a strategic wing during Korea. Later he flew transport plains out of Viet Nam. He died August 19, 2000. The other picture is my great grandfather, Louis Schaffer, who fought in WWI. He was a Coastal Artilleryman from Oregon. He was sent to France to fire the big 10" guns and pound the Huns. He received 5 combat clasps and returned, mustered out of the army at Camp Louis, 1919. The medals shown are only what I have left. The rest are lost.

My mom is from germany and I have even more vet family there but they there are not letting any militaria go at the moment.

                  Steve,

That must be a heartbreak to a WWII collector!

My Great Grandpa was in WWI with the 6th and my Grandpa was in WWII with the 8th Air.

                  Thanks for sharing your items.

                  Bill

Ok I've been holding out! I took a few snap shots just to pass the time. I'm not a hardcore collector like some of you but I have fun with it anyway. This is my m36 collection.

                            Love M36s.
IMO, lanyard and brocade belt on your officer tunic would go with a visor better
