Thought I would add some more to this post...

Here is my double Erel officer's cap. This one is stamped to Panzerpionier Btn 16 under the sweat band.

is a small group attributed to Ltn Werner Hochberger, who went missing during the Bobruisk offensive in June 1944, which occurred over the period of 23-29 Jun 1944 (found through a quick google search). Werner was previously part of the 27th Pionier battalion (which was Panzerpionier after October 1940), and was transferred to the 134th Pionier battalion prior to the offensive (the 134th Pioniers were part of the 134th infantry division that fought during the Bobruisk offensive - more info on the offensive here:

    http://www.flamesofwar.com/hobby.aspx?art_id=980).

The group came with his cap (not named unfortunately), plus the documents and Austrian annexation medal. Werner was awarded this medal, plus the War Merit cross with swords, plus at least also a sports badge, though as you can see the documents and medals are incomplete. Also are two photos of Werner. The letter went to his wife, stating more or less that Werner went missing and has not been reported as a POW. He presumably perished as he never returned - quite a sad little story.

Next is a pionier NCOs piped tunic for a Spiess. This one is very high quality, and is in quite nice condition.

And my first tunic acquisition for 2011 - which is one that appeared earlier in this thread...

So, any new engineer related gems in folk's collections?

Here is a unique item for the Pionier collector, actually the only one I have seen, it is a steet sign removed from a Kaserne. Measures 8" X 26", it is in excellent shape. Will make a great backdrop when I finish up the bunker.

Two more details, I really like the black shadowing of the letters.

Very nice, Steve. Love the visor, too. If you decide to let that one go, please keep me in mind.

Thought I would revive this thread with some recent(ish) pioneer related acquisitions. Collecting has been slow over the last year or so, but here are two pioneer caps recently added into the collection.

                      Firstly a restored pioneer crusher:

                      And a Gibirgspionier officer's visor:

Lets keep those pioneer items coming!

My wording may have confused some people, but I was referring to my Army career, so I was stating that it's my favourite core of the German Army, as I was a Engineer in the OZ Army. To Paul.J my best mannequins are my SS, and GJ mannequins.
