Images in post 276, 277,278,279, 280 and 181 are WW2 Finnish troops, and images 289, 290 and 291 are WW2 (neutral) Swedish troops, for those who might not recognize these. All others are pretty obvious! Thanks for the latest posting of images out of my collection Helmetbuyers! NickLast edited by NickG; 02-11-2007, 01:34 PM.

The M42 Waffen SS helmet (post 282 and 284) with SS shield decal on the volunteer (left) side is a dug up helmet from the Halbe Kessel, Nederland Division deployment area. (1945 Battle of Berlin, just South of the capital). The helmet's interior paint and leather liner are still in great condition...flexible leather, all tongues intact with draw string, and partial name inked in leather still visible (Scha...?). The Halbe pocket is known for it clay soil, which preserves items reasonably well! I did add the chin strap, which is a late war thin ersatz leather type. The helmet was purchased directly from the guy who dug it up in the late 80's (after locating it with a metal detector) and I believe he is also a WAF member. Chime in!
The Waffen SS "partial" side cap is a US army vet "bring back" souvenir and the damage (rubbing wear) on the skull has to do with the cap being used a lot...and being tucked in belt gear etc... Too bad the vet decided to cut it up... oh well...
The Waffen SS collar tab is the highly desirable flat BeVo weave silver SS runes type, usually worn by NCO's or by officer's, the latter with added silver border piping!
ENJOY!
