Well its been a bit since i posted in here but what i have has been worth the wait .
1st up is i a mint-conditioned copy of Gordon Williamson’s 1984 “The Iron Cross: A History 1813-1957,”
autographed by Knight’s Cross recipient SS-Sturmbannfuhrer Heinrich Springer.
The 176-page book with many pictures has an extremely high-quality autographed photograph of Springer
on the inside front page and a dedication on the other. Springer wrote the foreward to the book.
He also autographed the book again on page 98 under his photograph in that section detailing his military career.
The book, with the original mint dust jacket, comes with a handwritten letter in German from
Springer and the envelope in which he sent his picture ... AND the large padded envelope in which he returned the book, complete with cancelled stamps, return address, etc.
Springer, a member of the elite Leibstandarte-SS “Adolf Hitler,” fought in the French campaign, Dunkirk, Balkans,
and Russia. Later with the newly-formed 12 SS-Panzer Division “Hitler Jugend,” he was also First Ordnance Officer
on the Staff of Generalfeldmarschall Model and served at Arnhem and the Ardennes Offensive.
Next up is my double maker marked LDO EKI with warranty slip . Cross is marked L/16 & 4.
Absolutely stuning piece . Made better by the presence of the warranty slip...
A good book...and then signed by a great soldier.
Couldn't be better.
About those EK's.
I think you should stop buying them.
You got way to much of those.
Just save your money and send me instead your buying adresses where you buy those gems
mark could you post a close up of that L stamp, as it should read L/16 and not L/12 because L/12 is junCker and not S&L
slim
Silly me , did i write L/12 . Oops i did , sorry i meant to write L/16 . Was reading a thread on the L/12 just before posting . Original thread is now edited...
Nice double marked EK1. I think SLIM thought, as I did, that the MM was L/12 on the bottom reverse, looks like a 2 instead of a 6.
As an aside yours seems to be a variation in markings. The two L/16 4 double marked EK1s I have, both have the MMs on the reverse pin. I believe that SLIMs is the same way. Nice variation
The LDO card is especially nice. Hardly ever see one of those!
