      I love that book, Dave!

I got Tim Curley & Neil Stewart's wonderful Waffenrock book for Christmas. Got me thinking about two dress tunics that I have that are unit marked. This first one is for a Cavalry Corporal assigned to the Wehrkreis X Remonteschule (Military Area X Remounting School). Wehrkreis X is Hamburg.

This is the tailor's label. The town of Lüneburg is about 20 miles SSE of Hamburg.

This is the proof stamp. A bit hard to read, but it says Geprüft over W. Rem.-Sch. X (Wehrkreis X Remonteschule (Military Area X Remounting School.))

I'm no where near the professional photographer Tim & Neil had, but I tried a bit of photo-editing to make the stamp more legible. This is the best I could come up with. Still hard to see the 'X', but in person it's there.

This is the owner's tag sewn in above the size stampings.

And, a close-up of the label. Baurle is the soldier's last name. The unit line at the bottom reads 1./Geb.Bi.54 (1st Company, Mountain Battalion 54).

Been a while, so I'll add a few more items. This first one is for a Revierforster (1st Lieutenant) in the Privat Forst Dienst (Private Forestry Service).

The next few posts are of various trade badges. They were worn on the lower right sleeve. This first one is a machine-embroidered Gothic S for a Schirrmeister (Equipment Administrator). They were worn by NCO personnel only, and came with and without a border.

This is the other end of the spectrum. A hand-embroidered example with the twisted cord border.
