I am envious... This is the most complete KM insignia collection I have ever seen. You should seriously write a book on the subject.

      Thank you for sharing!!

      Best regards

Thanks Paul, but I don't think I could do anything that would come close to the series Jack Angolia did. Glad you're enjoying the stuff though. (I am considering doing an article for the Forum.)

Anyway, here are a couple more I've pried out of the frames.

For a Verwaltungsfeldwebel (Administrative Petty Officer 1st Class).

This strap was worn by the lower rank marine (shore) personnel.

And one for enlisted members of the Marineartillerie (Shore-based Coastal Artillery).

One of the 'goals' I have is to come up with complete sets of Petty Officer and Enlisted patches for all the Kriegsmarine trades. I'm pretty close, so will post what I have. (If you have a peg for one of my holes, let me know.)

Funkmaat and Oberfunkmaat (Radio Operator Petty Officers).

Enlisted. Note the big differences in the symbols on the round patches.

Schreibermaat and Schreiberobermaat (Clerical Petty Officers). Notice how on the patches with the metal devices the right quill crosses over the left. On the embroidered patches it's the other way around.

                        Dave,

A quick question about KM straps... The field grey tyeps... I see that you have an example with the insignia sewn on the boards(yellow bomb), but what do the completely blank ones mean?

                        Thanks
                        Paul

Hi Paul. This is what Angolia says about those - There were many different units that were organized during the war that were not distinguised by specific unit insignia. They usually wore shoulder straps void of any insignia. I'd suspect that the wearing of unadorned straps became more common as the war progressed.
