Apparently nobody is able or willing to add material (it seems there is
a lack of interest for this subject). One more try, by me.

Some photos from Stahlhelm leaders, wearing early uniforms.

Upper row at left: Oberst Brückner from Landesverband Sachsen,
        precisely Gau Ostsachsen
        at right: Kleinau

Lower row at left: not exactly known
at right: Major a. D von Scholten from Landesverband Hessen-Südwestfalen
        precisely Gau Sieg-Lahn

Alright, I'll add a photograph that may be of interest. (Wim already knows it.)

I actually don't collect Stahlhelmbund material and only very occasionally buy photographs, but this had one caught my eye. It was simply offered as a picture of (unnamed) Stahlhelm leaders, but unless I am very much mistaken, the man on the right is none other than Paul Hausser, and I don't think I have ever seen a photo of him in Stahlhelm uniform before.

As far as I know, he was an SHB member only from February to October 1933, and assigned as the Landesführer in Berlin-Brandenburg. (The uniforms and insignia seen here certainly match that time period and location.)

I do not know who the Kompanieführer and adjutant on the left is.

Did write my Stahlhelm-mentor, but as expected no answer (he has no computer). I have to Phone him one of these days. Maybe he has an answer!
The collar patches were official between 1932 and 1934, as from then on one should not wear them with the new uniform for the NS-Frontkämpferbund.

So, take your chance/opportunity and cooperate! We - the Stahlhelm admirers - are not served with only viewers (inquisitives)!!

For now something most people do not know about: Stahlhelm-insurance (Stahlhelm-Versicherung). The shown poster gives details about it and mentions the numbers of insurances available.
The Stahlhelm-Versicherung was a member for the Deutscher Ring of insurances.

Most interesting is the Insurance for flags.
Very interesting advertisement piece, Wim! I have read about the SA having a similar policy, at least for it's men! Makes perfect sense that See Stahlhelm would and other organizations of the like.

I don't collect Stahlhelm. But, I do collect anything related to Freikorps and Freikorps veterans. Some Freikorps units or their successor organizations went into the Stahlhelm and wore Tradition Badges commemorating their Freikorps service.

Here is a photo showing a group of leaders from Stahlhelm LV Gross-Berlin wearing Freikorps Tradition Badges on their uniforms: Schutzregiment Gross-Berlin/Sportsverein Olympia, Freiwilligen-Brigade Reinhart/Regiment Reinhard and Freikorps Potsdam/Regiment Potsdam-Sportsverein Olympia, Gau 5.

The members from "Gruppe Reinhard", which was Gau I from the Landes-Verband Gross-Berlin were allowed to wear a smaller Reinhard-insignia upon the top above the cap band.
This was according the uniform-regulation from May 1925. If I remember well the insignia was no longer allowed since 1926.
The shown photo with post 68 must be from about late 1933 or early 1934. Most of them will have been transferred to the SA-Reserve I, which was after November 11, 1933.

This 1918 badge recently sold for $1,280 on Ebay (I have only ever seen 3 for sale in my lifetime and after auction fees, they all sold for over $10,000 each). I believe this one on Ebay to be a reproduction for the following reasons:
                        1. I have never seen any badge with a rivet instead of an iron cross on the helmet
                        2. The engraving is suspect as the style of the date does not match the style of the name
                        3. The date does not correspond with Dr. Max Görnemann who joined between 28-31 Dec.
                        4. There is no record of a 1918 badge with a Coke bottle type pin ever being manufactured
                        5. Why is there is a silver stamp of 935 over-stamped on STH? This would never happen IMO
Does anyone else out there see any discrepancies or have any comment? Thanks, Chris yy

Also, why is there a 16 stamped to the reverse? Dr. Max Görnemann was member number 19. (Leutnant der Reserve Erich Görnemann was member number 16)

It's my understanding that the organization was "founded" on Christmas day, so a date of 20 Dec 1918 is unexplainable. The 1918s I have seen all had a 25 Dec 1918 date and were in 2 versions, thin pin and coke bottle pin.

I have found an article that shows pictures of the original 1918 Max Görnemann badge. See attached. Definitely not the same badge as the one sold on Ebay.
