I do not feel confortable with them. It seems someone spraid the gorgets and chains golden and the symbolos in silver.
The buckle insets were, as far as I know, never used. No indications were given to that!
But there are more aspects that give me doubts, big doubts!

A few photos to give this thread a boost!.
They are used in my book about gorgets.

        kl Fahrer der Bundesfhrung.jpg

Seldte and Duesterberg just before their ride to Koblenz for the 11th. Reichsfrontsoldatentag. In the background guards from the Stabswache
at the door for the Bundesleitung at Berlin. The driver for the car also was a member for the Stabswache. Note that not just flag bearer's did wear
the gorget, but also members from the Stabswache.

        KL stahlhelm-marine.jpg

Very rare photograph from the Stahlhelm-Marine. Note the use of the kidney formed gorget and the use of the flag bearer's patch upon the upper arm.
Second left is the reserve flag-bearer. Note the anchor device upon the bandoleer for the flag-bearer.

PS: when using the photos for other purposes, please ask permission and credit them properly!!

Thanks for the bad news, Wilhelm. I have had those 2 gorgets for many years now, but as you know, the more experienced of a collector that you become, the more knowledgeable you become so when you go through your collection after many years, you find items that you purchased early-on when you first started out that you now know are not authentic. That's the case with those two gorgets as now confirmed by you. I have attached a few more items from my collection. I am starting to run out of things so you are right; unless someone else out there contributes some photos of his/her Stahlhelmbund collection, this thread is about to go cold. Again, thank you for everything, Chris (I particularly like the 3 tinnies that I have where der Stahlhelm and der Wehrwolf had a joint event)

thanks for showing, but as no others are willing (or able) to contribute this thread, it is at its end!

So (for me) to end it, three photos related to South-West Afrika (todays Namibia):

            swa-1 1929 at Kolmannskuppe Sta and Jungsta - kopie.jpg

Stahlhelm and Jungstahlhelm-members at Kolmannskuppe in 1929.

swa-4 during meetings swa was apart for the district hannover. Note LV SWA - kopie.jpg

Members from SWA were subordinated to the district of LV Hannover at a meeting.
            Hannover was their patron district.

swa-5 note Gau SWA during 10th RFST at Munich in early June, 1929 - kopie.jpg

another detachment at a meeting in Germany, under "their sign" during the meeting
of the 10th veterans-day at Munich in June 1929.

In the 1980's I was able to reproduce from a photo-album from a member of SWA.
The cover of the album held the enormous rare cuffband SWA. I had to return the
album during a Stahlhelm-meeting at Gmünd/Germany to the owner, who still was alive.
When I returned the album to him, he asked me what to do with it and handed it over too me.
I donated it then to the Stahlhelm-Archiv, which he agreed
            .

Very informative and interesting thread! It certainly piques my interest in the Stahlhelm.

I have always liked Stahlhelm items but most of my Stahlhelm items are buckles. Here is my flag bearer insignia. You can’t tell much in the photos. One is pictured in the Richard Deeter’s Gorgers of the Third Reich. My is a little different than the one in the book.IMG_7801.jpgIMG_7800.jpg

The same one is shown in my gorget book. The photo was supplied too me by my photographer of those days.
There are some others shown, as well as the wearing of such patches.

A bit of cooperation works and I will show some pages from my gorget-book, one about the flag bearer's patch and one with flags.

Maybe people may or will regret now not having this book.

wearing of a patch. There are numerous variations of this item.

Below are some images of Stahlhelmbund flag bearer patches (I think) that I have saved over the years in my reference library. I have yet to ever own one or see/handle one in person, Chris

The one with the white/green flag I have seen worn during a meeting in the 1980's.
If it is an old version or new, I cannot tell.

Here some more flag bearer's stuff as used in my book

                            sta -11-.jpg

The official description tells us the backing should be (dark) blue, but various
                            colors have been observed.

                            sta -10-.jpg

                            sta -12-.jpg

This last one is from a meeting after the war with the new Bund.

announcement for the Sta-Frauenbund from Oktober 1933 about the dress:

                              DSZ 15-10-1933.jpg

Note the indications mentioned: dark-blue (an ungly dress in my opinion, looking like a dowdy), the arm-patch and cuffband.
