                          Hi Hubert,

It's interesting that both Sven's and your badges have the same circular flaw on the right. Some circular piece of metal with a ribbed pattern on its surface was pressed into the badge in that spot. If they were in slightly different spots one might wonder about a vice that was gripping it there but since the positions are identical I wonder if this occurred during the process of stamping out the interior cutouts from a fault in the tool?

                          Best regards,
                          ---Norm

                            Hi Norm,
This is possible and also the flow on the bow wave maight not be the true flaw but also a damage made by the pressing tool?
                            Cheers,
                            Hubert

Hey, I just realized that Markus (Liquidmetall) made a similar observation in a previous thread in 2012, and reading his comment I believe he thought it might have been caused by a later step in production during the vaulting of the badge. Very interesting thought, but the unflawed examples are also vaulted so I still don't know why only some examples exhibit the flaws, unless it has to do with how zealously they're vaulted.

Anyway, good to link these two threads together.
