Is this a fake 1957 Knights Cross?

    Fellow Members,

Take a look at this on eBay

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...537070925&rd=1

This is supposed to be a 1957 Knights Cross by 'Juncker' complete with 'L/12' markings and a 'Juncker' cardboard box.

Me thinks this is as bent as a bottle of crisps.

I mean, what is an LDO marking doing on a 1957 award and it's case

Am I missing something here or is the start of fake 1957 RK's hitting the market.

    Comments please...

I think the RK could be real deal, but the "L/12" is an "add-on" by the seller,or whoever that it's.Need clear pictures to ID.

I would not trust the box - in my opinion is a modern repro.

The oaks are looking genuine to me - there is no detail on the reverse.

Well, You are in a good position to buy a nice piece I suppose - there are not many fakes of the 57 version if there are any

OK here we go, let me paste the small discussion I made with Peter.

                      Quote:
                      <table border="0" cellpadding="6" cellspacing="0" width="100%"> <tbody><tr> <td class="alt2" style="border: 1px inset ;"> Originally Posted by Okrach

You have more experience than I do - wanna learn.

                      </td> </tr> </tbody></table>

There are to many questions around the set.
                      - Why all the L/12 markings ? (genuine crosses or oaks 1957, was/is not marked L/12)
                      - Why the crude ribbon loop on the oaks ?
                      - Why is the case marked/printed with 1957 and Juncker ?
                      - If genuine, why the low price ?

The 1957 crosses are being replicated as well as the oaks. This is not a genuine 1957 set in my opinion.
Go for the early sets. The early sets are close to the wartime quality.

                      Cheers.

Well said Peter . All is wrong with this one and as mentioned the L/12 is rather overdone . Here are a few more observations at a glance:
                        1. The oaks are not 57ers but a crude 1939 copy
                        2. I would expect a L/12 marked 1957 RK to have early quality material. This RK has 80's quality, at which time I am not aware of Juncker producing 57 RKs.
                        3. LDO case with a Juncker, surely not what it was issued in. Incidently, these LDO cases are recently made.
And this is without commenting on private feedback and private bidders.

Look on www.nicholasmorigi.com for repro 57 RK's. A good site for checking MOST repro's that are around.

                          Regards
                          Andy
