Do you have more photos of the cape?

It has got some what looks to be good characteristics of a Tropical/Arctic type but more photos would help in giving a definitive answer.

As for the maker, it's not one I have seen before but as you can see from my site there were many different companies that produced the gasplane so I think the focus should be on validating the gasplane first.

        Hi,

Here is another photo of the cape, what is the meaning of the letter OBN stamped on it?

Personally; don't like the markings ( looks fake to me ), but like the gasplane itself and it looks to me to be original, period made rubberized cloth gasplane.

            Agree with Marcin.

These OBEN (the crease in the photo is hiding the E) marked gasplanen are believed to good. I don't own one but when they appear on the forum they get the thumbs up. However as Marcin has mentioned the markings are different to what I have seen on these types of gasplane. (see here: https://allaboutgasplanes.com/1942-t...p-carousel-326 and https://allaboutgasplanes.com/1944-t...p-carousel-380)

I don't think there is a yet a definitive answer on what OBEN indicates. Could be what the gasplane has been made with or it's resilience to water or which gasses it is a defense against.

            How much is it?

                  Thanks for the additional photos.

It looks like a typical OBEN marked Gasplane and other than the markings I don't see any red flags.

The markings make me uncomfortable because I have not seen this type on any type of gasplane. Searching the WAF archives I can't see any other OBEN examples to see how they were marked.

Here's some pics of my OBEN marked sheet. These are usually translucent brown plastic. Mine is marked “g_d” (illegibel), “250/43/11” and “80 Ly We [Tp]”

(The close-up detail shot of the marking is a more legible pic from an identical sheet that was once posted here).

Thanks for additional photos. Looks like original maker marking were covered with this green paint overpaint which covers one folded panel of this rubberized gascape.

The one which started this thread is diffrent then the one you have shown.

It is very interesting example must say ! Have both type of gascapes ( universal rubberized cloth example , both in tan and green, and translucent celluoid example ) and I have never seen writting 'Oben' on the rubberized example ( and I have had in hands and seen many of them ).

What is the purpose of the green paint, is it original to the cap?

Hard to say if period overpainted, but IMO no ( factory made examples left factory in tan on one side and white on other side, with only corners painted white or green/red ( depending from side ).
