    Hello

    have you see a showel like this, it's smaller than an infantry,
    probably a civilian use i think, maybe in a vehicle like a side car??

    I believe what you have is the shovel issued to MG08 Gunners a la WW1 and during the inter war years.

    As they had a lot of kit to deal with they were given a short handled version.

    Could well have been re used ww2 as why throw away good tools.

    Hopefully others will confirm my thoughts.

          Wow,

          Even shorter than I remembered, it would appear that the short shovel shown is dimensioned as between the 2 sizes ie Not full infantry but longer than the MG version. And the handle on the one shown does not seem to have been messed with so I have no idea as to its intended purpose.

          Good set of pics Attached on prior post BTW illustrates the MG08 to perfection.
