    Y-Straps Opinion Please

    Dear all,
I would be very grateful for an opinion on these Y-Straps. I am reasonably new to collecting equipment and I am very unsure about these straps. The back strap looks far too short and everything does not feel right to me.

I would be grateful if people with far grater experience could give their opinions and let me know what you think.
    Thanks and regards,
    Andy

    Hi Andy

Like i said in the mail : y straps are good, but end strap is not ! End strap is a tornister strap (which in itself is original, but it just does not belong to an y strap

    Cheers
    Tom

The typical late war Y-straps. The back strap is from M34 tornister as Tom already mentioned.

        I would leave alone.

In my experience it is easier to find a set with the correct backstrap then to buy something like this in the hope you can find a spare backstrap for sale.

          Thanks Gents,
I am grateful for all your help and advice. It is a shame about the back strap and I will return them. At least it is all genuine!
          Regards,
          Andy

            Hello Andy,

For your information, those y straps were at some point the property of the Luftwaffenmuseum in Uetersen, Germany.

Wait, so did they stamp items with a massive ink stamp?

                Hello,
Yes, I have seen this before with various other items that were sold when the museum disbanded in 1995. Each item seems to have the same stamp with a different number for each item. I imagine this was for cataloguing each item in the museums collection.
                Regards,
                Andy
