        German collectors call it "Kartenbrett", but dont know if this is the official name.

                I’ve always known them as ‘kartenbrett’. A very nice item for map enthusiasts. This model seems to be one of the more standard versions, though there are a lot of variations that you can find - including crude field-made ones. It’s good to have the map tool still with it - they are often missing.

                  I have this pouch used in spanish civil war. I suposse that German one will be similiar to this.

                    I think you could get a carrying case that the kartenbrett would fit in. It looked like the German clothing bag, but had fittings inside for pencils and map instruments. Some soldiers also attached leather pouches to the kartenbrett to carry the pencils and instruments. I do not know of a ‘pouch’ made specially for the kartenbrett.
