I searched a little bit. It looks different from that to MG 08/15. Maybe it's a Vickers ammo box?

Differences between boxes.

Not convinced it is a Vickers box,

Never seen one with the steel reinforcing to the corners although the early ones were actually wooden, with an option of single hinge lid and double hinge lid. Corners were exposed dovetail joints.

Handles did have a cut depression as per the one shown but the handles were leather strap.

Latter ones were steel formed in line with the wooden style layout, but with twin leather handles.

Yep, it was my idea as well. Scharzlose ammo box.

It's similar to a Schwarzlose ammobox, but it's not the same. Unfortunately I did not find the same looking box.
