Dunkelgrau camo gas mask can out of the family

Straight out of the family in Lübeck (northern germany). Hard to find dunkelgrau (dark grey) camo of the canister to cover the Apple green of the 38 dated can. Got a new gas mask with 43 parts and a 42 dated stamp.
Luckily i got a copy of the WAST request.

OTTO SIEGFRIED LISSACK the owner of the gas mask was part of the 320. Infanterie division that was built up in Lübeck and fought in Charkow later. The unit was destroyed in 1944 in southern ukraine. He got wounded in Jan 1945 in Elsace after changing to a Landesschützenbataillon. After that he is still missing in Action. His family never saw him again. His grandson who sold the gas mask set to me told me he forgot the gas mask at home in 1944 during his last vacation. So this is the last equipment piece that still exists.
Very proud to have his photos too. His last Letter to the family is from December 1944.

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

A sad story! I'm glad you have his photos and last letter home with the gas mask.
That will help preserve his memory. I hate to see these soldiers become forgotten!

Thank you very much for sharing these with us!
