Please don´t upset with me, I just kidding all the time, but as you can see here it´s not only me who doubt about the stenciled sleeves. As Grenadier said they are not usual and he is an experienced collector and writer of three books about grenades, Ferdinand has more than 20 years of collecting and you can find many pics from me at Lexpev site and I also am wellknown German grenades collector. Also Nick is another from the family of German sticks collectors. I´m not telling you the stencils are fake, but very rare.

stenciled frag-sleeves
Hi to all,
uuhhlala - now that I see the serrated frag-sleeves from
Francis and from Raoul (Maus) I must admit that I was
wrong not to believe that markings could be apposed to
the frag-sleeves.
Your pictures fully persuaded me !
I'd be interested to have jeeensy's/Nick's opinion on this - looking forward
to his comment(s).

very nice,, and no doubt at all about originality. As Miguel says they are rare with the filling date and fille code stamps. The tan sleeve looks as if the pressed squares are not as pronounced as the other pressed sleeves, maybe
the photo.
With transit of these items theye were indeed slipped onto handles,, but I have also seem to be fitted onto cans upside down, this is a relic i have and I have have seen others the same, maybe it was just for quick dispersal to the soldier and he could fit properly later, depending on defensive of offesive weapon that was needed. any one else have a old ground found like this one ?

Smooth sleeves.
I my ealrier post about Brunos smooth sleeve I commented on the size of the gap... ignore that one
I have looked at my smooth sleeves, while most of the nicer ones have a small gap even the ones with a larger gap will fit and would not slip of the can. here they are,, as found/bought. some clean some not so clean. And also different thickness of materiel used so don not be concirned about wieght issues.

Hello Brice,
I have very bad feelings about your frag-sleeve pictured.
This because of the dubious markings !
Those markings make no sense on a frag-sleeve as they refer to the
load of the hand-grenade itself.
I think the frag-sleeve is not an original one, at least not the ink-inscriptions.

First of all, sorry for chiming in so late,,,,
Just perfect! Ink stamp reads "Grenade filled with Syntetic Donarit, October 1943". This frag sleeve was factory fitted to a Stielhandgranate 24 manufactured by a maker that WASN'T Richard Rinker. (Possibly fitted to a dbk, as they used a square stamp like that, but not positively confirmed at the moment). The reason for the added stamp was that the sleeve would cover the head so that inked contents would be unreadable. The grenades came in boxes of 15, with 5 fitted with sleeves.Comment

I have to revise my opinion on the stenciled markings of the fragmentation sleeves, smooth or serrated !!!
I must admit that I'm now convinced that the frag-sleeves could bear markings, a fact that I always thought wouldn't make sens.
