    Thanks Ferdinand,

You confirm my feelings.. Anyway, it would help me to put stencils together on my desktop ;-)

Sorry Ferdinand but what do you mean by stamped markings do not belong to the frag sleeve ??? Stamped sleeves do exist so I don't understand if it's to this peculiar marking you're refering ??
      I agree I don't like Bruno's smooth sleeve

        Hi Bruno:
I have 7 grenades fitted with smooth sleeves, I took the weight of all them and 6 are 140 to 147 grs and one 121 grs. All they are from diggers or water fund, (but still in very nice condition), and from sellers that I know from many years, so weight is not so important. What we have to be carefull is with these sleeves in so minty condition with stencils on it, there is a French dealer, (you can find him at Ciney or Beltring, and surelly at other fairs, but I found him in these two), with grenades, zunders and sleeves always in mint condition with stencils on them. I´m just telling what I have seen, ok, I´m not saying, "your sleeve is fake". But I´m agree with Ferdinand that it is very rare to see smooth or frag sleeves with explosive and date of filling stencils. I have seen an original case with original grenades and smooth sleeves inside, (5), and the sleeves are without stencils and loose into the handles, not fitted on the cans. Also here in Europe the fragmented sleeves aren´t so rare as some US members state, maybe in USA they are rare to find, but not here. You can find them in all conditions sometimes better and sometimes worst, but not hard to find.

I bet only the stencils are being added these days. Sleeve seems original to me, maybe repainted and stenciled.

OK Ferdinand . Just, as I said ,the markings on mines are not added as , like I said , they have been found many (many) years ago and given for free to someone who doesn't mind to have markings or not . BTW the sleeves have different stamps as you can see and not the same as Bruno's one .
You're right to be careful in these days as a lot of fakes are on the tables and as I said , Bruno's one isn't for me so far based on this pic

I´m not Ferdinand, I´m Grenademan2005 and I´m always talking about Bruno´s sleeve, not from yours.

Sorry grenademan2005 , the thread now is split in two and in 2 different forums and sometimes in a hurry , like I was this morning , not always easy to follow My mistake , sorry again
Now talking about Bruno's sleeve , I agree with you about the marking and even the paint which looks close to the repainted grenades I already saw in shows

                  Frag-sleeves with fillings' markings

                  Hello,

ok - I read all your opinions now, I only say that in my
opinion the frag-sleeves were never stenciled with the
                  explosive's designation...

I simply do not believe in these ink-stamped sleeves
                  being original !

Just my own conviction - nothing more and not evil meant

                    Any comments are welcome.

                    Best regards
Hi ,, one thing that i have noticed is the gap on the sleeve, it has a large gap, the sleeve this would be a sloppy fit on the can if manufactured like this, A sleeve in minty condition that has never been fitted would be as from factory with a 1 to 2 mm gap. I have looked at a few of mine and even the semi relicy ones are a tight fit still. it may have been stretched at some point to slip over a can and not damage it, a posibility by a previous owner,,, i'll post some piccs tommorow and weights, but like Grenademan2005 says these do vary,,,as does the thickness of the sleeves only slightly though.

                    regards nick,,

Well, looking back this thread on page 4 we can find some very nice sleeves from Maus with ink marks. And looking the sleeve from Francis we can see the same stencil Do 4/1944. As per the sleeves I have no doubt on their originallity, I´m not so sure about ink markings. At the other side we have Francis who told us where his sleeve came from. Hummm, a very intriguer history. As the post from Maus is from 2005 I will post his pic again here, hope he will have not a problem. Also repost Francis sleeve too for have them in the same page.

Now if the unbelievers don't like stamped sleeves like mines or Raoul ones , you can send them to me for the price of a copy , no problem
