Very cool. So much for the old collector adage that fresh rust on items is a sure sign of a fake. A lot of fresh orange rust on that guys stuff.
The owner of those pieces seemed more of a hoarder than collector. I actually felt a tinge of sadness that these items were kept in such a poor way.

I'm so tired of the 'orange rust equals fake' that people throw at anything.. Sometimes grandpa's well preserved stuff gets put into a poorly isolated shed or attic and it starts rusting or someone makes a new find that begins to rust once it is out of the dirt, bog or whatever

Cool stuff there. The cardboard barrels remind me of a guy here in Southern California who used to buy a lot back in the 70's and filled many barrels with things like SS smocks, Dot pattern uniforms, Falschirmjäger jump smocks, etc.
