    Unit Marked Canteen Translation

Hi Folks: I recently picked up a German WWII canteen w/o cup made by “V.D.N.S. 35” but when I removed the canteen from the felt cover...I found a unit stamping “Fla. M.G. 396”. What is this unit? I’ll post pictures soon. Thanks for your help.

Whereas in a Flak unit the "k" means Kanone as 8,8 cm or 2,0 cm, a Fla-MG unit is only using machineguns in its antiaircraft capacity.

I vote "396", as if you look where the middle part of the 3 is, it is at a different
height than the corresponding part of the following 9. If both 3's, I would
expect that part to be at the same height. But, this is just a guess!

          Nice find!

336 for me, the ink looks like it bleed a bit on that spot.
