    Cased Bomb Timer..Info Please

    Hello,

A friend of mine is an antique dealer. He just pulled this from his attic and is planning on selling it. A german friend of his told him it is a WW2 bomb timer. He asked me for my opinion and I have NO IDEA. This is a good one for the experts here on the forum. Any background and price guesses would be much appreicated.

    Thanks,

    Duane

Yea your friend is pretty much right, its a time delay fuze but set for days in advance. A cool thing to have. I have been after a complete one for a while, as for the price I cant help you there.

      Very nice...
Been looking for one of these for years now, sadly it's located in the US (?).

      It's a german WW2 "J-Feder 504", a long-delay fuze, with a max. time of 21 days.
It contains no exeplosives, just a clockwork that can be set to delay hours or days.

It's in very good condition, but some parts are missing: a booklet and the percussioncap housing.

I have no idea what these cost in the US, but it's a great piece.

I also have one of these. I looks just like the one in WHIM. The only difference is that the case and the papers has onother number than the timer inside.
The case says #4147 but the timer is #811.
I had some doubths about the color on the case, but I see that the one at WHIM has the same color. The one I got is also complete and the papers tells me that it has been tested by the Stehend, Wa.A. 178, cja, 20.jan.1942.
That is the only test that have been preformed, probably when delivered.

"cja" should be: Uhrenfabrik Gebr. Junghans.

It is a real nice item.

I bought it years ago on a antique marked.

I do not now any value but I will keep this one in my collection because it says so much about German precision even in wartime.
