Help identifying Canteen

I pick this up at a flea market this weekend for a couple of bucks. I’m wondering if anyone out there knows what country this canteen is from and what era? Similar to a German style, I’m guessing some kind of European canteen? Thank You..,

Looks almost like a WW2 Japanese aluminum canteen with a different style of stopper.....Does it (stopper) screw in or press in?....Bodes
