Guys I would like to show a very interesting LW backpack ; originaly early made backpack ( made in 1940 ) and in late war period reworked to M44 /sturmsack standard. Did you ever before similar examples ?

Very interesting example. Never seen one like that before.
Even more interesting thing is that there were some M44 LW pack examples shown on WAF but I`ve never seen a photo of this type of pack in use by LW soldiers. Your example could suggest that M44s were treated as more useful than regular LW backpacks if they converted them in such manner. However, it could also be just recycling of a damaged regular backpack.
Anyway, congrats on a very nice find!

I think it is post war made combination of classic Luftwaffe Rucksack with front part of M44 Rucksack. Rivets on the leather loops for upper D rings are rather strange.Comment

None of M44 rucksacks/sturmsack had the slit, like this have ( but early LW backpack had such slit ).
The straps with hooks for Y-straps were ast some point shortened and riveted - you can see clearly that original riveting ( big rivets ) is still there - if those have been postwar removed/replaced than those big rivets should be also removed. ( in original construction of early pattern Lw rucksacks, in this particular place, where straps with hook for Y-straps are, each rucksack had big d-rings for backstraps attachment ).Comment
