    Mg34 Gunners Pouch help Please

I am thinking of picking up this pouch.
It is in very nice condition, markings are to feint to see, but it looks like the waffeampt may be 540 or something close. The only clear number is the C 2258 stamped on the top.
So questions does the number indicate use in Spain or Portugal use? Does this effect value? I assume it is mg34? Finally does it look ok, sorry these are the only pictures I have at the moment

    Any help appreciated.

    Hello David,

I've got a strange feeling about that pouch. I don't really know...something to with the sewing, quality of the leather and the belt loops. They somehow look strange. Apart from that, all metal parts are painted black, something typical on RC equipment. It is a late war variant, post 1942, for both MG34 and 42, as can be seen by the cut-out in the metal plate for the MG42 AA sight.

      Hi David,

I agree with Carles. For me the belt loops wear\shape looks odd.

It could well be just the photos but I would definitely proceed with caution unless a trusted member gives it the thumbs up.

Interesting, I might pick it up and take some better pictures, I can send it back if I am not happy.
I was looking through the forum and found this old thread

        http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=gunners+pouch

it seems to show a similar look/construction pouch with the same maker, though it is in mg13 config rather than mg34/42 form.

Thanks so far for the comments

It's a bit late right now...so I might come back tomorrow, but if you put them side by side you will see many differences. Beltloops are made of a thicker leather, and stitching is a much stronger thread.

          time to sleep...
