strange straps ...

got these straps some days ago - in very good condition and marked 1942 and factory code ... what straps are these exactly? i'm thinking about some radio or something like that

As far as I know these are straps for the Food Containers often seen on the backs of Essenholer

Hello Tom,

I don't think that these were specially made to carry those "Essenholer". I've had an exact pair of straps in my collection, and they fitted on my food container, nevertheless if I'm not mistaken, there was some sort of special webbing-harness (?) available to carry foodcontainers.


Here's a picture of the foodcontainer in my collection with the straps in question.

Maybe there are just "all-purpose straps"?

In my Honion opumble they could have been used for just about anything,from MG lafetten to cable reels to essenholer (sounds like a nasty word !) etc etc etc (bless ya! !)!
Hope that muddens the water even further!

these are not a "canvas version",rather an "ersatz" version,made by recycling older stock of M35 tunic inner suspenders and leather parts...........N E A T O !!!!!!......of course...they could have been made after the war by....hey..why are you staring at me with that cruel streak in your eyes ?What those words mean in Polish ?

well Manny.. I dont think You are right on this one
this is my second set like that.. first one I sold many moons ago.. it was 1942 marked (dunno- should't sell those)

these are 1944 marked and are very well made - not from tunic suspenders

PS. and yes.... my look can kill sometimes
