    Y-strap Tail... Period?

    Forum,

This is a tail strap off a pair of Y-straps that I have had for a while. I feel it has probably been added to the shoulder strap section at some point and is not original to each other. That in itself is not so bad, but I can't say that this tail hook is like most of the others I have ever handled. The leather is tanned black on the rough side as is typical and the hook is blued steel with a light gray over paint. Opinions?

    Thanks,
    Mike

        Mike,

Nothing looks strange about it to me, just like a few original sets I have picked up in the past...

Light gray paint is always a good sign.

Mike, are these straps marked and dated?

                  Willi,

Yes...but... only faintly. The maker is illegible, but the date can me made out. The date is 1940 which is pretty early for these. Not all frontline units were wearing them at that time.

And to all, thanks for input. If the deal goes through, these straps just got a new owner via Estand.

                  Thanks
                  Mike
