    Hi Gentlemen

The german word "streichen" also means to paint something with a brush.
So the wording "Streich mit mir" would simply mean "paint with me "

If you look at the tool it is possible that it served the purpose of holding a paint
brush.(maybe it could be very handy in reaching some hard to reach areas especially when you do painting work on ships)

    Just my two cents

    Regards

This makes a lot more sense than a torture device with a commercial stamped on it.

          hmmmm....

This looks like it's related to a musical instrument to me... Streichinstrument.... To clamp or straighten a neck or bow?

A short while ago I visited a rural museum not far away from Copenhagen. In that museum they have preserved a complete workshop for a painter (not art painter) from the 1930'ies. Among the hundreds of paintbrushes there were on where this device had a brush through the ring. So the device, as Bernhard so shrewdly guessed, is indeed made for making it easy to stroke a paintbrush.

            Thanks for all that participated
