          Great piece !

A "Spr. Patr. Z" is a device to destroy guns.
They weremade for guns ranging from 3,7 cm right up to 60 cm.

Basically, it was a steel tube, made out of sheet metal, with a sheet metal strip attach to the tube by a hinge, the tube was filled with explosives.
To destroy a gun, the crew would take the apropriate "Spr. Patr. Z", open the breech, and slide the Spr. Patr. Z into the chamber.
The breech was then closed as far as possible, but the sheet metal strip prevented the breech from closing completely.
This was important, because a closed breech would have cut off the primer cord, which you have in the tincan..
The fuze was lit by pulling the ring of the fuze, and the charge would detonate, thus destroying the gun.

          p.s.: gibt's noch mehr davon ?

              Zünder,

many many thanks for your detailed explanation. I really apricate the info. Nice to know the exact use for it. I allready thought it has something to do with a "Rohrzerstörladung".
The tin was found in the pocket of Halbe (Brandenburg,Germany). I will ask the Guy how sold it to me if he has one more.

Again thanks for your comments guys....

              Bests Jens
