    Luftwaffe Hide Flight Trousers

    Greetings All,

I found a unique pair of pants today and I was wondering if anyone out there has a similar pair. I do not have a digital camera so I cannot post any photos, but I will give a description as best that I can.
As per the description in "UNIFORMS AND INSIGNIA OF THE LUFTWAFFE" Vol.2 1940-1945 Pages 175-178 by Brian Davis, The two-piece "Kanal" Flying Suit. It fits the description except that they are manufactured out of a hide and not material. They have the large front leg pockets on each leg secured by two press snaps. The top of the snap is a glossy blue-grey color and the underside is marked "PRYM 6". The pockets are made out of a lightweight white cotton with two drain holes in the bottom. There is a leather strap on the inside rear of the pocket that goes to the front to hold it.This strap and another strap in the pocket have loops. On the wearers right side there is a Holster made of the same cotton with the same snaps with a leather reenforcing piece where the end of the barrel would rest.Below this is another flap with a snap and another long skinny pocket. The front is zipper closed and it runs from the waist to the crotch. There are two zippers, one on each side, so you can reach into your trouser pocket. The zippers are marked "PRYM and "RAPID" . There are also two buttons and buttonholes above the top of the zipper. To the left and right of the zipper are two cloth belts with grey metal adjusting straps. The cloth is a grey is a grey ribbed/twill cotton. The buttons are black and are a smaller version of the buttons on a flieger tunic. There are four other buttons around the waist and in the back there are two cloth tabs with buttons like Keilhosen have. In the front of the waist there is a BeVo feeling tag With a Polar bear and Alaska-Anrcko,A-G, Sofia, Bulgaria. I forgot to mention the leg zippers that go from the knee to the cuff.
I believe that these are patterned off a pair of the Kanalhose. If anyone has a photo that they could post it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

      Greetings,

Yes, they are made out of a goat or sheep skin. I did a search through some back topics and came up with a pair in a darker color. These are done in a light color skin with white pockets. There are no other markings that I have found except the Sofia, Bulgaria label.

With a lighter color do you mean grey or white/cream color ?

Many of these trousers and jackets also were made in Sofia, Bulgaria ..
        Also flightsuits etc..
Sounds like a good trousers to me..
Pity you don't have any pics..

        Jos.

          Greetings,

These are made in a more of a cream color, definately not grey. The external pockets and such are in a white cotton. They look very much like the pair that you posted for sale in 2001(old thread). There is an adjustment buckle on either side of the zipper for the cloth belt. I believe that these wear also on the pair of trousers in the link that you provided in your 2001 post.

              Andreas, ,

Those are exactly what I picked up. Mine are a little dirtier, the leather portions are in a red-brown leather, and the waist belt adjusters are anodized grey. Thank you very very much!

I purchased these at a local store here where I live. Somebody was using them as ice-fishing pants. They tore the back of the right rear leg so they quit using them.

              Again, Thank you!
