    KM Silver-Plated Cutlery (Knives)

Showing here two KM-marked, table cutlery knives. Given that the handles are silver-plated, I assume that they are officer mess quality. They measure approximately 20.5 and 25.5 cms. respectively. The same maker mark appears on both stainless steel blades. The same numerical silver mark "90" has been stamped into the top of each knife grip. The handle of the larger knife is dented and has obviously been used to hammer at something, much like one sees on the grip of K98 bayonets.

The silver mark is confirmed in this reference, "Numerical Marks on German & French Silverplate" by Joerg Mueller-Daehn: "...90 Grams of fine silver became the standard in Germany. To document this, the "90" was punched on the pieces."

    Enjoy viewing. All comments welcome.
