    VG condition Zeltbahn 31

It has no maker stamp even though condition is marvelous. Buttons are made of steel (2 are missing). I have found some paper sewn in.

Is this a late war piece? I would appreciate additional information by someone more expert on these than I am (which is easy). Found in an area where soldiers left they equipment after capitulation

        Mid - Late war.......

Because of the single grommets (1943 upwards)

        Hope this helps

Like Tom said the production of the single grommet construction started in 1943.
A exact date when they started it is not known to me, but it has had to be well into 1943.
In my opinion the construction change must happened not earlier than in the second half of 1943.

The tent having no visible maker marks is not uncommon, but you should search for a stamp very carefully.
There was quite a number of makers that used very flimsy stamps, which in many cases are hard to even see. Also they can be in places you would not expect them to be.

          Cheers,
          Marco

Excellent advice & totally agree . I have recently had success finding some very faint markings on an example that I thought was hitherto unmarked.

Very interesting with the not often seen sewn in paper tags. Your Zeltbahn seems to have remnants of one in a the corners as well as the one at the top of the Zelt. I have a couple with these papertags as well, some with numbers, but the purpose is unknown to me, perhaps something to do with the manufacturing proces.

AFAIR mine are without visible manufacturer stamp as well, likely the same factory as yours then.

                Thanks for showing.

                Regards

                  Agreed ,
I have not seen the paper tag before.
                  Its great to see this.

Thank you very much! Yes, there are 2 pieces of paper sewn in the longer one in first pic and the small one. Zeltbahn has not seen much use. The back appears more brownish than usual.
