              It's not true. I have one with red stell cup and 41 dated body. I think that when they threw out these unfinished cups they used what they had to complete these canteens, reusing stock funds or reconditioning broken or damaged pieces.

                              Interesting information, thanks. It must have been a "very late" 1941. I've never seen 1941 steel canteen cup.
