    Gebirgsjäger Rucksack original?

Hi friends, just your opinions for a mint Gebirgsjaeger rucksack with no markings.
    Original? Bundeswehr? Repro?
Please let me know your thoughts.

          Hello Alex,

I've been out of this field for 7 years, so I'm not really up to date with recent reproductions. To my eye it looks like a mint condition early or prewar original. The leather rims, the aluminium metal parts and the sewings all look appropriate to me. The only thing I dislike is the lack of makers stamp (and unit stamp) as early pieces were usually marked like that.

Anyone else more experienced should chime in please.

          Cheers guys!

Christian , thank you for your answer. During my research i noticed the presence of Bundeswehr rucksack with similar shape and features of the WH GJ model. Do you know something about ?

              Rucksack GJ.

Hello, the lack of markings + the color of the thin canvas make me say, it can be postwar, Polizei or Bundeswehr ?
The fabric is very nice indeed, and if realy civilian (why not before 1945) it make a great bag for reenactment.

Lack of markings is quite normal in these objects (maybe a light ink stamp on the canvas) and the color of the canvas reflects in the best way the pre war standards (bread bags, clothing bags were all of this color).

Textbook prewar Wehrmacht backpack for mountain troops, in typical quality.

Whoever calls this postwar or BW or austrian ect, has no idea of Wehrmacht gear (and not of BW and austrian, too...)

                      Hi gents,

I have several original (with markings) GJ backpacks in my collection.

But I have also three "problem" GJ backpacks. I'd would like to point out the facts of an prewar and postwar backpack.
I took several pictures to show the difference.

If someone has some additional info - please let me know.

                      Best regards
                      Stephan

For me it is an original prewar backpack as already shown in this thread.

                        - the drawstring has typical metal ends
                        - the stitching looks tidy
                        - the fabric is heavy
                        - the clasp are from aluminium, the pins are circular

This one has the features of an prewar backpack - but there are for me some contradictions. This one has to be dicuss..

                          - the drawstring has no metall ends
                          - the fabric has a lighter colour and it is obviously from poorer quality
                          - the pins of the clasps are not circular - and the clasps looking more sharp-edged
                          - the stitchings looks not so tidy

For me this one is an postwar backpack. It has a grey colour and the overall construction looks not "Wehrmacht-like"

Thank you i only know and own wartime bags. I always have some problems with prewar color shades, f**cking color blindness...
