I have always wondered why these nearly always have the same single stroke of camouflage. After some research it seems that only the modified ones (with the hooks removed all have this paint job). I believe that this quick layer of tan paint was applied after a quick but official modification where these hooks where removed. A quick google search on " Patronenkasten 36 " easily illustrates my point. I believe that somewhere after 1942 the Germans found out they did not really use the Zwillingslafette that much and hence possibly removed it from service thus having to find a new use for the Patronenkasten 36. With the introduction of the MG42 this was even further removed from service imo.

Hy Frederik. You are guite right. They were later used for some other storage. Inside the box nearly 100% original green paint i can't see any scratch what do the ammos or ammo belts....this box came from Western Hungary where fight the german troops in 1945.
