A pair of black ammo pouches - Wehrmacht? WWI?

    Hi,

I just got this pair of unmarked black ammo-pouches. The rings and buttons are made from brass, the rivets are iron. Any opinions? Thanks.

It seems that they have been brown before and have been blackened.

Thanks Ian. Any other "votes" for WWI? Why do you think it is WWI? Because of the brass rings etc.? I have to ask because I am not an expert for ammo-pouches.

            Film Prop/fake?

            Hi JensF

I had an identical pair. I don't think they are German and\or WW1 issue. I believe that they are either film props, repros or from another country.

My main concern is that the stitches on the top part of each pouch are vertical, On all german g98\k98 ammo pouches I have seen the top stitches are horizontal (apart from of course the ones that have studs).

Would welcome other peoples comments etc.

            Cheers

( By the way I chucked my set in the bin!)

                  Hi JensF

Your pouches are unfortunately not German and from time to time a lot of those are around? I always have guessed they originated somewere in the Balkan area? But not sure.

                  Regards
                  Kim

Not WW1 German either. I have a pair of 1915 dated pebbled brown pouches that are near identical in construction to the WW2 sets.

                        Not German and not ww1.
Probably South America, I heard that they are from Venezuela. I have 10 pairs of them, inside one pouch there was a paper written probably in Spanish, so Venezuela as the country of origin is possible.

Thanks for your answers and help! I think I've got a good pair of WWI-reenactment ammo-pouches now.
