    Help with canteen strap

    Hey chaps

Got recently a nice canteen with some trench art on the cup. Wool cover is somehow crude, maybe added later on it. My question is in regard to the strap it has. Is it postwar made ? While metal detecting I have found the metallic bracket that holds the 2 parts together, thats why I am curious if it's a war model or later.

Below the pictures to this. Thank you kindly for any information you might have.

    Regards

The strap is not wartime and very strange and ugly cover. Aluminium cup is repainted.

Post war civilian straps using some original pieces .

Cover and straps are postwar self made pieces ( not even close to real wartime straps ) . Cup is repainted postwar. Only buttle and cap seems to be untouched.

I agree. The green runner buckle looks like a part taken from a gas mask also.
