as i know it is for flares

I believe also for flare storage.

Material is earlier type, they came in two other fabrics also. Luftwaffe use for sure because marked as such, either for planes and also paratroopers imo. Storage pouch but also to be removed and field used, maybe found in emergency kits or drop containers. Later types had improvements regarding zipper style and function.

Would like to hear what Gran Sasso thinks....
